Turtle Survival Alliance works with the Wildlife Conservation Society to identify, translocate, and protect nests of the Southern River Terrapin in the Sre Ambel River. Hatchling terrapins from the last-known nesting beach of the species on the Sre Ambel River are transferred to the Koh Kong Reptile Conservation Centre for captive-rearing until select individuals are identified as subadults for repatriation to the river system or incorporated into the center’s captive assurance colony. Additionally, TSA works with the Wildlife Conservation Society, The Royal Government of Cambodia’s Fisheries Administration, and Wildlife Reserves Singapore to maintain the dedicated captive-breeding and rearing facilities at Koh Kong Reptile Conservation Centre to sustain the captive breeding and head start component of the Southern River Terrapin conservation effort.

Along the Mekong River, TSA partners with the Wildlife Conservation Society and Royal Government of Cambodia’s Fisheries Administration to protect nesting beaches for the Asian Giant Softshell Turtle, locate and transfer nests to protected hatcheries, and release hatchlings into the Mekong River. In addition, the program focuses on community development, livelihood development, biodiversity research, and conservation, as well as conducts educational programs and training sessions.
